At least one person was hospitalized followed series of back-to-back accidents on Highway 82 near Catherine Store that left midvalley first responders scrambling Monday night.
According to Colorado State Patrol Public Information Officer Josh Lewis, the first incident took place around 5:32 p.m. in westbound lanes near mile marker 15. No injuries were reported, although one car was left blocked one lane and had to be towed. The remaining two cars were deemed drivable.
The next crash was reported just five minutes later near mile marker 16 westbound, with three or more cars involved and at least one rollover. At least one person was transported to Valley View Hospital.
Finally, no serious injuries were sustained in a crash around 6:19 near mile marker 18.
The highway was open in both directions as of 7:30 p.m. and no inclement weather was reported in the area. However, Independence Pass will be closed at least overnight just as the Grand Avenue Bridge opens on the other end of 82.
