An investigation into hazardous bottles in the Roaring Fork River lead to a search at the Roaring Fork Mobile Home Park on the evening of March 16.
According to a Pitkin County press release, around 40 people from multiple agencies participated in the operation. “In the interest of public safety,” crews also evacuated 15 residents from nearby homes between 5 and 6:20 p.m. and stopped 10 more from going home.
“At no point during today’s operation was the public placed in harm,” the release read. “Once the scene was established as secure and safe for personnel, investigators from the Basalt Police Department, the Pitkin County Sheriff’s Office, and the 9th Judicial District Attorney’s Office successfully executed the search warrant.
