Cattle fenced in before the rodeo.

On June 5, Valley residents gathered at the rodeo grounds once again for the opening night of the 2025 Carbondale Wild West Rodeo (CWWR) season. After the audience filed in, first-time flag bearer Alex Fouchet hoisted the American Flag to kick off the evening.

Despite overcast skies, the rodeo saw packed stands full of excited crowds. While the opening night of the CWWR was a wild event, the fun doesn’t stop there. As stated on the website, CWWR is held at the Gus Darien Riding Arena every Thursday from June until late August, “rain or shine.”

Gates open at 5pm, slack starts at 5:45pm and grand entry is at 7:30pm. Free shuttles run from The Orchard and 4th and Colorado between 6 and 10pm. Find the list of special events at www.carbondalerodeo.com
