The past year brought many changes and much growth to Sol del Valle. It was, without a doubt, our most challenging year to date but, at the same time, the year in which we received the greatest support from our community.

Some may say we sound like a broken record, but the truth is that we remain deeply grateful for the response and backing the community has shown us. To some, Sol del Valle may seem like a “magical unicorn” — a unique outlet in the region, entirely in Spanish, serving two valleys at once and connecting the Latino community.

When we say that our work would not be possible without your support, we mean it  wholeheartedly. Every sponsor makes this work possible, but so does every person who opens the doors to their business, their home, their daily lives and shares their stories with us. And everyone who shares Sol’s content or gives us a “like” on social media helps make every story, every translation and every conversation that much more impactful.

In January 2025, during a meeting with our incredible distribution team, the Pérez family, Sol del Valle reviewed its list of drop-off locations, intending to slightly reduce that number. To our surprise, the Pérez family shared that in most, if not all, distribution locations only one or two copies were left behind each week. This led to a revelation that returns were just between 50 and 80 copies overall. We left that meeting with full hearts, knowing that out of 1,400 copies delivered, only 5% went unclaimed each week.

Sol del Valle’s Year in Review invites Spanish-speaking and bilingual readers to revisit everything that was accomplished, not only as a newspaper, but as a community.

There are many people who make Sol del Valle possible, from its  reporters, who week after week introduce quality news, to its Community Advisory Board and The Sopris Sun Board of Directors, who support, guide and accompany Sol’s staff every step of the way, to its community contributors, who add a spark to every cranny of the paper through columns, photographs and the always-surprising Creativity Corner.

Sol’s social media presence has expanded, engaging regularly with followers through every challenge and every achievement experienced as a community. Check us out at Sol del Valle on Facebook or @soldelvalleco on Instagram.

The year 2025 brought us tears, gifts and great joy. From this side of Sol del Valle, the  newsroom wishes you a very happy and prosperous 2026. May this new year arrive filled with growth, many “yeses,” moments shared with loved ones, affection and, above all, the opportunity to continue moving forward together as a community, hand in hand with friends and neighbors.

In 2026, Sol will continue to be there to accompany you and a cup of coffee, to open the door on diverse conversations and to continue serving, week after week, a better-informed Latino community.

With appreciation,
