2024 Sustainability and Ecosystem Science Conference

April 19 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

Free

There’s still time to register to attend (and/or receive the recording) of CMC’s annual, curated Sustainability & Ecosystem Science Conference. This year is extra special because we are graduating our very first cohort of Ecosystem Science & Stewardship students!

This year’s theme is “Native Knowledge for the New Earth.” On Friday, April 19, 2024, from 9:00am to 12:00pm, students, alumni, staff, faculty, community partners, and family will converge online for an event that will inspire and educate our mountain communities. Highlights include a keynote address from Ute leader, elder, educator and author, Forrest S. Cuch, along with original research presentations by our talented Sustainability and Ecosystem Science graduating students, and opening remarks from our outgoing CMC President & CEO, Dr. Carrie Besnette Hauser.

For his presentation, Forrest S. Cuch, a former director of Indian Affairs for Utah, will share how ancient Native American wisdom can shape a vision for the future, addressing crucial topics and intersections such as racism, environmental justice, and climate change.

The conference is accessible by registering on Zoom and attendees will be from CMC’s nine-county district and beyond. Attendees will be able to select from seven virtual breakout rooms to view short presentations by graduating CMC Sustainability Studies and Ecosystem Science students collegewide. The virtual event will be followed by in-person events at various CMC campus (details on our Conference landing page).
