“By connecting our new rooftop solar to this battery system, we’re enhancing the museum’s energy resilience and helping create a smarter, cleaner grid for our community,” declared Bobbi Hapgood, president and CEO of the Powers Art Center.

The Powers Art Center (13110 Highway 82, Carbondale) is among the first commercial facilities within Holy Cross Energy’s service area to install a commercial battery energy storage system. The project’s completion was celebrated with a ribbon cutting on Aug. 12, reflecting a successful collaboration between the museum, Holy Cross Energy and Sunsense Solar. On-site solar and the new battery system will meet 75% of the museum’s energy needs. Moreover, the battery system can be controlled by Holy Cross Energy to cut their peak load costs during periods of high energy demand.
