An estimated 500 people swung by the Village Smithy on May 5 (Cinco de Mayo) to celebrate Carbondale’s oldest restaurant’s first 50 years of service. The Chacos and Ettelson families graciously provided chips and nacho cheese, taquitos, quesadillas and desserts, as well as libations (including margaritas, of course). By 5:30pm, the posted start time, the place was already packed with familiar faces from the Carbondale community.

Local band Electric Lemon continued entertaining partygoers long after the food ran out, and a few lucky attendees took home door prizes.
