August 16, 1942 – January 1, 2026
Robert Lee Beasley of Carbondale passed away peacefully at home at the age of 83. He was born on Aug. 16, 1942 in Ysleta, Texas to Jesse Earl Beasley and Leta Mae Hargis Beasley. He graduated from Van Horn High School in Texas and spent most of his career in the propane business as a regional manager for Arrow Gas.
Robert married Ida Mae Garlick in 1962 and had three daughters: Tina Kim, Pamela Kay and Jamie Sue. As residents of Carbondale since 1972, the family enjoyed camping, fishing and snowmobiling while the children were young. Robert enjoyed playing volleyball on the town rec teams and was an avid fan of the Roaring Fork Rams, his children and grandchildren’s sports teams. He enjoyed woodworking, making special gifts for his entire family.
Over the last 13 years, a new pastime included watching the wild turkeys from the porch on Cattle Creek. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Ida Mae; his children, Kim (Rob) Velasquez, Pam (Steve) Wismer and Jamie (Scott) Schilt; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren adored their papa and how he softened in their presence.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Leta Mae, and his siblings, Laverne Lawrence, Kenneth Beasley and Virgil Beasley. Visitation will be from 9 to 10am on Friday, Jan.16 at Farnum Holt Funeral Home. Services will follow at 11am at The Orchard in Carbondale. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, with a celebration of life continuing at The Orchard immediately after.
