Sue Scott

Sue Scott grew up in Riverside, California, the last surviving member of the Skelley clan. After college, at the University of Oregon and San Jose State, she ventured out to Aspen, looking for the love of her life, who turned out to be lucky Tam Scott (aka “Judge”) who beat out a bunch of “would be’s” from Princeton and Harvard to win her over.

Sue and Tam were married in Aspen on March 29, 1969, followed by a wild bash at the Hotel Jerome. Together they raised three wonderful children — Fitz, Peter and Robyn — and were blessed with three adoring grandchildren — Stella, Fisher, Will and daughter-in-law Holly.

Sue was a hockey, ski and soccer mom, living in a bunch of different homes in and around Aspen in the good old days until the end of December 1999 when she and Tam pulled up stakes and moved to Patagonia, Arizona and Bozeman, Montana, intermittently until finally returning to their favorite spot in the Roaring Fork Valley, the log house at Tam’s sister Kit’s ranch in Carbondale.

Suddenly, stricken with terminal cancer, Sue passed at home on Dec. 20 with her family by her side.

Sue was a class act, one of a kind. Quick to lighten up your day, play you in Scrabble or cook an amazing dinner for family and friends. Now lost forever, but loved and laughed at by those lucky enough to have known her. She is probably above us now, bragging about skiing the bumps.

No services are planned, that would not be her style. Sue will wait right next to Judge until his departure when they can be back together again and blown in the wind on a mountainside.
