Mike Uncapher helped Mount Sopris Nordic Council install “The Hitching Post,” created by Chet Haring, at Spring Gulch (lower intersection of Clim’It and Bullwinkle) as “a tribute to the collective support that helped launch our ambitious capital improvement plan and achieve our $750,000 fundraising goal,” according to a press release. The cold is helping maintain the snow that’s on the trails, and the next storm isn’t expected until Jan. 23, just in time for the free Independence Run & Hike Nordic Demo Day on Jan. 25, from 9am to 1pm, weather permitting, of course.
