Journalist Andrew Travers holds the 2023 Julie J. Boucher Community Honor Roll Award on Saturday, Oct. 14 at the Colorado Association of Libraries annual awards ceremony in Loveland. The award, administered by the state association’s Intellectual Freedom Committee, recognizes an individual or group in Colorado not directly affiliated with libraries who promote intellectual freedom. It went to Travers, a Sopris Sun board member, for his efforts as editor of the Aspen Times to publish work censored by the paper’s owners and for speaking out against obstruction of free speech.
