Trekking in the Altai Mountains of Western Mongolia

Mike & Valerie Miller will share stories and photos from their 150-mile adventure trek in the wild, remote Altai Mountains of Western Mongolia in 2006. Accompanied by a native guide and camels, the Millers visited the mountains and glaciers of Tavn Bogd National Park and spent time among the native nomadic herders. Their presentation includes details about the Mongolian customs and lifestyle that have changed little in 1,000 years. They participated in native festivals and even visited a local eagle hunter who uses an ancient tradition of hunting with golden eagles; a tradition exclusive to this region! This event will be held at the Third Street Center in Carbondale and is free and open to the public. Doors open at 5:30 PM, program will begin at 6:00 PM. RSVP is required as seating is limited.
