The Art of Marketing: An Artist Workshop Day

Carbondale Arts and The Artbase are hosting a workshop series on art and business, with the first day of workshops taking place on Saturday, Apr. 28 from 10a.m. to 3p.m. at The Launchpad in Carbondale. The first workshop, from 10a.m. to 12p.m., is “PR 101 for Artists: Creating Buzz, Telling Stories” facilitated by Lara Whitley (www.larawhitley.com). Whitley is an artist and PR/marketing professional and will discuss the simple, cost-effective, and powerful tool of public relations and how to tell your story in an authentic and attention-grabbing way. The second workshop, titled “Making Your Career in the Art World,” will be facilitated by Dr. Jeffery Taylor from 1 to 3p.m. Taylor, professor of the art of business and gallery management at Western State University and the author of “Visual Arts Management” in this workshop will lay out the structure of the art world, art business and art market. Workshops are free for current members of Carbondale Arts, The Art Base and The Red Brick and for nonmembers $20/workshop or $35/full day.
