Naturalist Nights: Three Billion Birds Lost: The State of Our Birds and How We Get Them Back Back

March 9, 2022 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Free

Arvind Panjabi, an avian conservation scientist with the Bird Conservancy of the Rockies will provide a synopsis of the state of our bird populations, both locally and continentally, including the loss of 3 billion birds over the last half century and the massive die-off of migrants in Colorado in 2020 and its impact on populations. In addition, Arvind’s presentation will highlight initiatives underway at the Bird Conservancy and elsewhere to address various conservation challenges and bring back bird populations.

Arvind is a Senior Research Scientist at Bird Conservancy of the Rockies where he works to conserve the birds of Western North America through science, education and stewardship. He has published over 20 peer-reviewed articles, including a landmark paper on the Decline of the North American Avifauna in Science in 2019.
This is a free event. Additional information will be sent in your confirmation email.
Unable to join us in Carbondale? Arvind will also be presenting in Aspen on Thursday, March 10 at ACES Hallam Lake Nature Preserve. Presentations will also be available to watch on Grassroots TV and YouTube afterwards.
