Naturalist Nights: Soil Carbon in Colorado Agroecosystems: Practice and Promise

Soil has been getting a lot of attention recently for its potential to store carbon from the atmosphere. But what is the realistic potential for carbon sequestration? In this talk, Dr. Courtland Kelly will unpack this topic and explore the potential of carbon sequestration in different Colorado ecosystems, include recent research conducted at Rock Bottom Ranch.

Dr. Kelly is a researcher in Soil Health at Colorado State University. She completed her Ph.D in Ecology and Soil and Crop Sciences at Colorado State University in 2021, where she is investigated the role of regenerative agricultural practices on soil health and organisms.

Unable to join us in Carbondale? Dr. Kelly will also be presenting in Aspen on Thursday, January 27 at ACES Hallam Lake Nature Preserve. Presentations will also be available to watch on Grassroots TV and YouTube afterwards.
