Healing Hoof-It

Join us for the 1st annual Healing Hoof-It during August First Friday in Carbondale! This special mental health walk celebrates the “Helping Horses Who Help Humans Heal”. The walk will begin at the Gus Darien Rodeo Grounds at 5 PM and head down the Rio Grande Trail to downtown Carbondale. The streets will be closed as our walking parade of therapy horses, goats, miniature horses and dogs – alongside families, community partners and friends head to 4th Street Plaza for a post-walk celebration. There is no fee to join the walk and registration at the Rodeo grounds begins at 4 PM. Walk proceeds benefit Smiling Goat Ranch: we bring the healing effects of horses, movement, nature and supportive community to autism families, veterans with PTSD, children and adults with anxiety, depression and related conditions free of charge. We don’t want fees to hinder healing and 100% of our program needs – including animal feed/care, supplies, and handlers come from donations and grants.
