Arthritis of the neck affects most people, especially in later years. Aging, wear and tear and heredity are all factors. If the symptoms include significant neck pain, arm pain with numbness and tingling or weakness of the arm, there may be neurological irritation or damage, which should be assessed by a physician. Most patients will improve with early treatment, without the need for surgery.
